Uranium miner Cameco promotes Tim Gitzel to president, Grandey remains CEO

The Canadian Press reports Cameco Corp. reports that Tim Gitzel is being promoted to the position of president, taking over the job from Gerald Grandey, who will remain chief executive.

Cameco promoted Bob Steane to senior vice-president and chief operating officer.

“These appointments are consistent with prudent succession planning and Cameco’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence,” Grandey said in a statement.

Gitzel and Steane will assume their new roles at Cameco effective Friday.

Cameco is one of the world’s largest uranium producers.
