Sterlite’s Indian Copper Smelter Extends Closure Until May 8

Reuters reported that the Sterlite Industries copper smelter, the largest in India, will continue to be closed until at least May 8, as they await a decision on complaints regarding the plant’s emissions.

As quoted in the Reuters report:

The March 30 closure of the Sterlite Industries plant, which supplies half of India’s copper demand, pushed about 3,000 tonnes per day of copper concentrates onto the market, sending processing fees to a five-month high in Asia.
