Second Hole At Dimma Intersects More Massive Nickel Sulphides

Toro Energy Limited (ASX: TOE) (‘the Company’ or ‘Toro’) is pleased to announce that TED42, the follow up diamond drill hole at the Dimma Ni-sulphide discovery, has also intersected massive and semi-massive nickel sulphides (see Figures 1 and 2), down-dip of the discovery intersection. The follow-up intersection highlights the potential for Ni-sulphide mineralisation in the Dimma location and the continued potential of the Company’s 100% owned Dusty Nickel Project (Figure 3), located in the Yandal Greenstone Belt, some 50km east of the world class Mt Keith Nickel Deposit.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Toro’s follow-up diamond drill hole at the Dimma nickel (Ni) sulphide discovery on Toro’s Dusty Nickel Project, TED42, has also intersected massive and semi-massive Ni-sulphide.
  • Diamond drill hole TED42 intersected a zone of intermittent Ni-sulphide mineralisation which, inclusive of dilution, extends for some 20.5m and includes 2.5m of continuous massive Ni-sulphide at its base from 314.7m downhole, 35cm of semi-massive Ni-sulphides from 296.5m downhole and disseminated Ni-sulphides between these zones – a 15cm zone of semi-massive Ni sulphide occurs outside this zone from 304.2m downhole.
  • Spot analysis by hand held portable XRF (hh-pXRF) suggests that Ni grades within the sections of massive and semi-massive Ni-sulphide range between 1.0 and 3.1% Ni (hh-pXRF analysis results should be used as a guide only and should not be used as a substitute for laboratory based geochemical analysis - refer to Appendix 1 for performance of the hh-pXRF results analysis against certified reference material).
  • The intersection of massive and semi-massive Ni-sulphides in the follow-up hole at Dimma, TED42, provides compelling evidence that more Ni-sulphide mineralisation could be present at the new discovery site, which remains open in all directions.
  • TED41, the Dimma discovery hole, intersected 3.6m of massive Ni-sulphides from 244.1m downhole, potentially grading between 1.45 and 3.66% Ni (refer to cautionary statement above regarding the use of hh-pXRF and the appropriate appendices in the ASX announcement of 9 August 2022).
  • The Dimma discovery is the fourth Ni-sulphide discovery made along the Dusty Komatiite, which highlights the prospectivity of the Dusty Komatiite for Ni-sulphides, which has at least 7.5km of strike length within Toro’s 100% owned Dusty Nickel Project.
  • Only 1.4km tested so far at a single depth along a 7.5km komatiite magnetic trend and Toro already has four discovery locations of massive and semi-massive nickel sulphides.
  • All of the mineralisation so far discovered at the four discovery locations Dusty, Houli Dooley, Jumping Jack and Dimma, is open at depths above and below the current positions drilled.
  • Diamond drilling continues on the Dusty Nickel Project and Toro will continue to inform the market of any significant developments.

Diamond drill hole TED42, the follow-up drill hole at the Dimma discovery, intersected a zone of intermittent Ni-sulphide mineralisation some 20.5m thick, with dilution included, starting from 296.5m downhole. The zone included a 2.5m thick (downhole) intersection of massive Ni-sulphide at its base starting from 314.7m downhole (refer to Figure 1), and a 30cm thick (downhole) intersection of semi-massive Ni- sulphide at the top from 296.5m downhole, with zones of disseminated Ni-sulphides between.

Figure 1: Diamond drill core of massive Ni-sulphide intersected in TED42, the follow-up hole to the Dimma discovery hole, TED41. See text for further details.

Multiple spot analyses using a hand-held portable X-Ray Fluorescence instrument (hh-pXRF) suggest local nickel concentrations within the massive and semi-massive Ni-sulphide of between 1.0 and 3.1% Ni. It is important to understand that ‘spot’ analysis of drill core by hh-pXRF should only be used as a guide, it is not a substitute for bulk geochemical analysis of drill or rock samples. Appendix 1 contains information on the results of testing the hh-pXRF method against certified reference material and Appendix 2 has all relevant drill hole details.
