Scorpion Increases Murchison Footprint to 1,544km²

Scorpion Minerals Limited (ASX: SCN) (“the Company” or “SCN”) is pleased to advise that it has entered into a binding Heads of Agreement (“the agreement”) with eMetals Limited (ASX:EMT) (“eMetals” or “EMT”) to acquire a 100% interest in tenements E 20/896, E 20/963, E 20/964 and a 90% interest in E 20/885 (collectively the “tenements”) which cover a combined 904km² in the Murchison Goldfield of Western Australia (see Figure 1).


HIGHLIGHTS

  • Scorpion has entered into a binding agreement with eMetals Limited (ASX: EMT) to acquire the Poona Project
  • SCN to acquire an interest in tenements EL20/885, EL20/896, EL20/963 and EL20/964 which cover a combined 904km²
  • Consideration for the acquisition is $12,500 in cash and 4,000,000 fully paid ordinary shares in SCN
  • EMT will also receive a 0.5% net smelter return (NSR) royalty in respect of minerals mined from the tenements
  • Strategic acquisition increases SCN’s position in the Murchison by 150% providing significant exploration optionality

Under the agreement, SCN will acquire its interest in the tenements for a cash consideration of $12,500 and 4,000,000 fully paid ordinary shares in SCN. EMT will also receive a 0.5% net smelter return (NSR) royalty in respect of minerals mined from the Tenements should commercial mining be undertaken.

Settlement is to be completed within 60 days of executing this agreement subject to successful completion of due diligence and other conditions precedent.

A Chinese company has halted exports of filtration equipment used in lithium extraction, reflecting the impact of Beijing’s proposed restrictions on battery and lithium technology exports.

Jiangsu Jiuwu Hi-Tech (SZSE:300631) informed customers last month that it would stop exporting a key lithium-processing component known as a sorbent starting on February 1, Reuters reported on Tuesday (February 18).

The news outlet notes that the move signals Chinese manufacturers are adjusting their practices even before Beijing’s proposed export controls have been formally implemented.

Arizona Lithium Updates Development Plan for Prairie DLE Facility, Outlines Modular Approach

Arizona Lithium (ASX:AZL,OTCQB:AZLAF) provided an update on development plans for its Prairie lithium brine project, saying the Saskatchewan-based asset will be brought into production in three phases.

The company said on February 6 that Phase I will involve the start of production at Pad #1. It will use a commercial-scale direct lithium extraction (DLE) unit that can produce 150 tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent annually.

The goal is to process brine at about 1,000 cubic meters a day to ensure the system works under real conditions. Arizona Lithium said it will use the resulting product to de-risk end market opportunities.

Stardust Power Signs Lithium Offtake Deal with Sumitomo Corporation

Stardust Power (NASDAQ:SDST) has signed a non-binding offtake agreement with Sumitomo Corporation, a major trading company headquartered in Japan, for up to 20,000 metric tons per annum of battery-grade lithium carbonate.

“This is a huge milestone for our company, having an offtake partner such as Sumitomo, a very credible and prestigious organization,” said Roshan Pujari, founder and CEO of Stardust Power. “And they can provide a lot of value add other than just acquiring the product — they can help with our marketing efforts.”

Under the agreement, Sumitomo will have the option to buy up to 20,000 metric tons of battery-grade lithium annually, which represents 80 percent of Phase 1 and 40 percent of the total annual capacity of Stardust’s planned lithium refinery.
