Mining Weekly reports Western Australian Premier Colin Barnett has offered to assist African governments with creating mining laws and agreements.
Mining Weekly reports Western Australian Premier Colin Barnett has offered to assist African governments with creating mining laws and agreements.
The market news is quoted as saying,
Speaking at a Ministerial dinner following the first day of the Africa Downunder conference, Barnett told African government representatives that Western Australia had a 100-year history of mining, and has specialised in the integration of large-scale resources project with infrastructure needs within the bounds of the prevailing mining law.
Western Australia’s Premier, Colin Barnett says,
What Western Australia has done over the years is to have specialised state agreements, facilitating mining while also maintaining a background of the mining law. Around 80% of our mining operations are operated on state agreements, and these projects are big and complex.
