5 Top TSXV Stocks: Unigold Up 44 Percent

Resource Investing News
TSX:OR

Unigold was the top-gaining stock last week, and it followed by Peruvian Precious Metals, BonTerra Resources, Erin Ventures and Golden Valley Mines.

Last week was less dramatic than the previous one for the TSX Venture Exchange, but it still continued its overall downward trend. At last week’s close, the S&P/TSX Venture Composite index (INDEXTSI:JX) was down 0.61 percent, to 573 points.
That said, a number of juniors still managed to put on positive weekly performances. Unigold (TSXV:UGD) was the top-gaining stock for the week, and it was followed by Peruvian Precious Metals (TSXV:PPX), BonTerra Resources (TSXV:BTR), Erin Ventures (TSXV:EV) and Golden Valley Mines (TSXV:GZZ).

Unigold

Unigold’s share price was up 44 percent, to 13 cents, last week. The junior exploration company is focused on developing its gold projects in the Dominican Republic. Most recently, on June 25, Unigold closed a $1-million private placement with Osisko Gold Royalties (TSX:OR), and also executed an investment agreement with the royalty and streaming company. There has been no new news from the company since the end of June that would explain last week’s share price rise.

Peruvian Precious Metals

Peruvian Precious Metals is an exploration and development company focused on its Igor gold-silver project in Northern Peru. The company is working to progress Igor while assessing other mine development opportunities in the region. In May, Peruvian announced 88 percent gold recoveries in column leach tests at the project. The company’s share price was up 33 percent last week, to $0.10, though there was no recent news to explain the rise

BonTerra Resources

BonTerra was also up 33 percent last week, finishing at $0.12 on Friday. The company is focused on advancing its Gladiator gold project in the Urban-Barry Greenstone Belt in the Abitibi region of Quebec, near Val-d’Or. In July, Bonterra announced that it was preparing for field programs at Gladiator. There has been no new news since then that would explain the rise in share price for the company.

Erin Ventures

Junior explorer Erin Ventures is currently focused on the Piskanja borate project in Serbia, but also holds the Deep River property in North Carolina. Erin reported in July that it had completed all exploration work required to keep its exploration license at Piskanja, but there has been no further news to explain last week’s rise in share price. Erin Ventures was up 30 percent last week and closed at $0.065.

Golden Valley Mines

Finally, Golden Valley Mines saw its share price rise 27 percent for the week to end at $0.115. The company is focused on testing grassroots targets, and is seeking partners to finance continued exploration efforts to allow it to continue its generative programs. It has a number of grassroots properties in Quebec’s Abitibi region, and has optioned its Perestroika prospect in the area to Golden Cariboo Resources (TSXV:GCC.H).
