The price of magnesium has remained relatively steady in sharp contrast to the volatility seen in the share prices of rare earths producers in recent weeks, as the metal traded between $2.05 and $2.20 a pound in February, compared to a range of $1.90 and $2.20 in January.
Some analysts, however, anticipate the price of magnesium to fall below $2.00 a pound in light of lower demand for the metal worldwide, reflecting the broader global economic slowdown.
