Coroner finds Pike River miners would have died within five minutes of explosion

Mineweb.com reports that, according to recent findings by the coroner, that the miners involved in the Pike River Coal (NZE:PRC) blast would have died within minutes of the accident.

The editorial is quoted as saying:

 Superintendent Knowles said that several days later a group of experts visited the mine to try and determine what happened in the mine and gauge the chances of  survival. The group found the causes of death could have included asphyxiation, carbon monoxide poisoning, and burns from the subsequent methane fire.
