Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) announced that it has signed a cooperation agreement with the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Supervision (Rostechnadzor).

Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) announced that it has signed a cooperation agreement with the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Supervision (Rostechnadzor).

As quoted in the press release:

The agreement seeks to promote cooperation in occupational safety and health, reduce accident and trauma rates in production and urban development. The parties likewise agreed to introduce remote monitoring capabilities enabling federal governmental oversight of occupational safety at high-hazard production facilities. Rostechnadzor and Norilsk Nickel are going to jointly foster exchange of information, conduct staff trainings and Q&A sessions to improve efficiency and competence. The parties set out to direct advisory talks and stimulate legal, expert and inter-party engagement.

Alexey Aleshin, head of Rostechnadzor, stated:

Industrial safety and health are, without a doubt, a priority for Norilsk Nickel, said Vladimir Potanin at the signing. – Those are the issues that put expert opinion and professionalism at the forefront. We believe, that the agreement which was signed today will, among other things, lead to creation and introduction of new methods in process monitoring, improved staff competence and advanced legal frameworks for occupational safety.
