10 Top Cybersecurity Companies

The cybersecurity industry is quickly expanding in response to the need for increased computer security. Here are the 10 top publicly traded cybersecurity companies according to the Cybersecurity Ventures 500 list.

With Cybercrime tipped to be greatest threat at this point of human evolution, it is estimated that cybercrimes will cost the world $6 trillion annually by 2021, up from $3 trillion in 2015,  according to a Cybersecurity Ventures report.

In efforts to minimize cybercrimes, companies in the space are no doubt putting forth their best efforts in combating cyberthreats. With that in mind, here the Investing News Network (INN) is profiling the 10 top public companies on Cybersecurity Ventures’ most recent Cybersecurity 500 list.

The list features the companies that deal with cybersecurity, and the publisher claims to have included the companies based on numerous criteria including the problems solved, customer base, VC funding, company growth among others.

The companies below trade across a wide range of stock exchanges and does not include private companies listed on the Cybersecurity 500 list, therefore the list numbers in our list do not match those of Cybersecurity Ventures, although it is listed in consecutive order. All numbers and figures are current as of market close on May 16, 2018.

Here’s a closer look at those companies.

1. CyberArk Software (NASDAQ:CYBR)

Market cap: $2.10 billion; current share price: $58.97

First on our list and third on the list of top 500 companies, is CyberArk, who is classified for its privileged access security solutions.

The company claims to offer numerous features including credential protection and management, session isolation and monitoring among others.

2. Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO)

Market cap: $217.49 billion; current share price: $45.145

Ranked fifth on the Cybersecurity top 500 list and second on ours is Cisco, who is best known for its host of security products and services to detect and stop threats.

The company’s products are tailored for host of activities and services including cloud, email, network, router among other things. The San Jose company was classified under the threat protection and network security sector.

3. IBM (NYSE:IBM)

Market cap: $132.77 billion; current share price: $144.63

IBM was at the top of the list on our top cybersecurity stocks that was published last year. This year the company is ranked sixth in Cybersecurity Ventures’ Cybersecurity 500 list, through its platform IBM Security, and is third on our list.

The company is classified for its enterprise IT security solutions, which. range across mobile, data, network and endpoint solutions. IBM uses AI and also cloud platforms to protect and detect threats.

4. Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT)

Market cap: $744.19 billion; current share price: $96.86

Microsoft was ranked seventh on the Cybersecurity 500 list and comes in fourth on our list of top 10 cybersecurity companies.

Microsoft is classified under the datacenter to endpoint protection sector. The company provides numerous offerings to counter cybercrime starting from the its prime Windows Defender product to its cloud based Azure and office 365 security compliance centers.

5. Amazon (Amazon Web Services) (NASDAQ:AMZN)

Market cap: $770 billion; current share price: $1,587.28

Amazon is fifth on our list and eight on the Cybersecurity 500 list with the company classified for its cloud powered security solutions.

The company claims to keep the data safe and meet compliance requirements while its platform features infrastructure security, DDoS mitigation among many other things.

6. FireEye (NASDAQ:FEYE)

Market cap: $3.37 billion; current share price: $17.55

FireEye is sixth on our list and comes in ninth on the Cybersecurity 500 list. The company is classified for its advanced threat protection services.

FireEye offers numerous solutions for enterprise security that ranges from network to email and threat intelligence solutions.

7. Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT)

Market cap; $90.98 billion; current share price: $319.33

The American company– with its interests from aerospace, defense to security and advanced technologies– is ranked 10th on the Cybersecurity 500 list and seventh on our list.

Lockheed Martin is classified for its cybersecurity solutions and services with the company claiming to build a cyber center of excellence through its skilled analysts and superior technology.

8. Check Point Software (NASDAQ:CHKP)

Market cap: $15.66 billion; current share price: $96.40

Ranked 11th on the Cybersecurity 500 list and eighth on ours, Check Point Software is classified for its unified threat management.

The company offers numerous products to protect users on network, mobile, cloud and to also provide them with various security management services.

9. Symantec (NASDAQ:SYMC)

Market cap: $13.31 billion; current share price: $22.35

Symantec has been providing security softwares for more than three decades. The company ranks 13th on the Cybersecurity 500 list and ninth on this list. The company was picked on the endpoint, cloud and mobile security sector.

Like many other companies on the list, Symantec provides solutions for various services including advanced threat protection, email security, cloud and network security services. Symantec also runs Norton, one of the popular antivirus software in the world.

10. BAE Systems (OTCP:BAESY)

Market cap: $28 billion; current share price: $35.08

BAE Systems is a British multinational defense, security and aerospace company. The company is classified for its cybersecurity risk management services and is ranked 14th on the Cybersecurity 500 list and closes out our top 10 list.

The company provides a host of services that deals with email security, fraud detection and prevention, AML regulatory compliance and national threat defense solutions.

BAE Systems operates through five segments: the electronic systems; the cyber and intelligence systems; intelligence and security systems; applied intelligence; and the platforms and services.

10 Top Cybersecurity companies – December 5, 2017

The cybersecurity industry is a quickly expanding market, growing in response to the rapidly developing need for computer security. On that thought, a Cybersecurity Ventures Report suggests cybercrime damage costs are expected to grow to $6 trillion each year by 2021, while the global industry is projected to reach $1 trillion by 2021.

Like the report highlights, plenty of new cybersecurity companies are coming onto the scene, including mergers and agreements, as well as investments and initial public offering activities. In sum, the release states that these additions are “constantly changing the vendor and service provider landscape.”

With that in mind, here, the Investing News Network (INN) profiles the 10 top public cybersecurity companies on the most recent Cybersecurity 500 list.  The companies below are publicly traded across a range of stock exchanges. Private companies from the list were not included below, therefore the list numbers do not match the Cybersecurity 500 list, but all are in consecutive order.

1. IBM Security (NYSE:IBM)

Market cap: $140.58 billion; current share price: $149.30

IBM Security retained the second spot on the Cybersecurity 500 list, and is first on this list. Under its parent company, IBM, IBM Security protects businesses using a customized enterprise security portfolio to disrupt new threats, deploy security innovations and reduce the cost and complexity of IT security.

IBM Security’s primary services include: security intelligence and analytics; identity and access management; application security; advanced fraud protection; data security and privacy; and infrastructure protection.

2.  Raytheon Company (NYSE:RTN)

Market cap: $62.20 billion; current share price: $211.61

Next on the top cybersecurity companies list is Raytheon Company, who is a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, civil government and cybersecurity solutions. Raytheon Company operates Raytheon Cyber, which provides a number of managed services, including: cybersecurity assessments, virtual security operations center, digital forensics and incident response, as well as managed detection and response. Raytheon Company also operates Forcepoint, formerly known as Raytheon Websense, is number 12 on the Cybersecurity 500 top cybersecurity companies.

3. Mimecast (NASDAQ:MIME)

Market cap: $2.04 billion; current share price: $34.61

Mimecast is ranked #5 on the Cybersecurity 500 top cybersecurity companies, but third for the purposes of this list. Mimecast is focused on email and data security and protects organizations from spear-phishing, malware, data leaks, data loss and downtime. In June 2017 it announced the launch of the Mimecast Case Review App to its Mimecast Email Archiving service. Since then the company has announced it has expanded its workforce in both New Zealand and Australia.

4. Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO)

Market cap: $206.57 billion; current share price: $41.14

Next on the top cybersecurity companies list is Cisco, who is still ranked #7th on the Cybersecurity 500 list. Cisco has a suite of cybersecurity products and services to detect and stop threats.

More specifically, those products range from advanced malware protection; next generation firewalls; security management; cloud security; next generation prevention systems; VPN security clients; email security; policy and access; web security; network visibility and enforcement; and router security, to name a few.

5. Sophos (LON:SOPH)

Market cap: GPB $2.00 billion; current share price: GPB$428.30

Headquartered in Oxford, UK, Sophos  climbed to eighth  position from its formerly ranked 10th on the Cybersecurity 500. The company offers complete security solutions using encryption and endpoint security. 2017, The company announced its partnership with Konica Kinolta in June 2017 to integrate Sophos XG Firewall and Sophos Wireless into Workplace Hub. In March of 2018, the company announced Synchronized App Control, a feature of its XG Firewall product.

6. Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT)

Market cap: $96.36 billion; current share price: $332.21

Ranked 10th on the Cybersecurity 500 list is Lockheed Martin.  Lockheed is a security and aerospace company with headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. The company is engaged in research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services.

Lockheed announced in March of 2018 that it had a successful launch of two of its Trident II D5 Life Extension missiles, resulting in the certification of a submarine for patrol.

7. BAE Systems (OTCMKTS:BAESY)

Market cap: $26.12 billion; current share price: $32.77.30

Next on the list of top cybersecurity companies is BAE Systems, a global defense, aerospace and security company. BAE provides advanced technology defence, and security solutions to governments as well as commercial markets.
More specifically, BAE Systems operates through five segments: the electronic systems; the cyber and intelligence systems; intelligence and security systems; applied intelligence; and the platforms and services.

8. CyberArk Software (NASDAQ:CYBR)

Market cap: $1.79 billion; current share price: $49.92

While CyberArk Software is 15th on the Cybersecurity 500 list, for the purposes of this top cybersecurity companies list, CyberArk ranks 8th. Headquartered in Israel and Massachusetts, the company’s unique focus is on threats using insider privileges to attack the enterprise.

Much like the companies listed above, CyberArk Software has a range of products and services, including: CyberArk-Conjur; shared technology platform; enterprise password vault; SSH key manager; privileged session manager; privileged threat analytics; application identity manager; on-demand privileges manager; endpoint privilege manager.

9. Rapid7 (NASDAQ:RPD)

Market cap: $1.18 billion; current share price: $24.93

Ranked 17th on the Cybersecurity 500 list, Rapid7 provides analytics for security and information technology (IT) operations that allow companies to implement analytics-driven approaches to cybersecurity and IT operations.
Rapid7’s products include: InsightVM; InsightIDR; AppSpider; Metasploit; and InsightOps.

In March 2018, Rapid7 was recognized in a vulnerability risk management report as a leader in the space by Forrester Research, an independent research firm.

10. Palo Alto Networks (NYSE:PANW)

Market cap: $16.97 billion; current share price: $183.39

Closing out the 10 top cybersecurity companies list is Palo Alto Networks, who comes in 18th on the Cybersecurity 500 list.

Palo Alto Networks’ security platform operates through three elements: Next-Generation Firewall, Advanced Endpoint Protection and Threat Intelligence Cloud. The company’s Next Generation Security Platform was built for breach prevention  with threat information shared across a range of security functions that can operate over mobile networks.

I would also like to add Transputec Ltd as a security service provider in this list . We are using there cyber security services since 2005 for our business.

    1. Transputec looks like an interesting company Matt, but we focus on companies that our audience can consider investing in. Doesn’t look to me like Transputec is a public company.

  9. Which company uses miniaturized cyber drones especially on the battlefield. I believe they’re using some sort of nano tech. I would invest in the cyber company that utilizes this sort of technology.

  11. Great list, might be missing some other more recent actors such as Silent Breach or Sophos but other than that, it’s really good.
