  • Cyber security is ignored by many firms not only due to the cost, but the fear that expensive commercial “solutions” don’t work under the gun. I have been trying to sell a proactive, real-time solution for a few years now but all I hear is it takes too much computer power to run in a commercial environment. Here’s news: the human immune system burns around 25% of your energy, but you’d be dead in days without it. On a quad-core computer, one core is dedicated to security, and it rigorously monitors the IP (Instruction Pointer) of the other cores for evidence of an intrusion. It then halts processing while it hunts down an intruder. Is this expensive? Hell, yes. Necessary? You better believe it.
