USA Today reported that silver could still be an attractive investment, particularly because of its relationship with the equity markets.

However, Winans suggests that a small stake in silver can make an ounce of sense given that it doesn’t typically move in lock step with the stock market. Silver has outperformed the S&P 500 on an annual basis about 43% of the time. Investors willing to endure the commodity’s volatility might consider silver on the basis that it could counter the swings in stocks.
