Platinum Industry Considers Centralized Bargaining

Mining Weekly reported South Africa’s platinum sector is considering the adoption of centralised bargaining arrangements.

As quoted in the market news:

The Chamber of Mines of South Africa facilitates a centralised bargaining process and conducts the wage negotiations for South Africa’s gold-mining and coal-mining industries, but not for the currently roiled platinum-mining industry, which opted rather to go it alone and conduct decentralised wage negotiations at company level – a legacy issue.
