The Financial Post reported that PotashCorp. of Saskatchewan reported a drop in fourth quarter earnings and missed analyst expecatations.
Earnings in the fourth quarter came in at US$421-million, or US$0.48 a share. That included a one-time charge of US$0.04 a share for the settlement of an antitrust lawsuit, and a US$0.39-a-share impairment charge on the company’s investment in Sinofert Holdings Ltd. of China. The consensus analyst estimate was for earnings of US$0.58 a share, while Potash Corp. earned US$0.76 a share in the same quarter a year ago.
